NEW APP. PLEASE DOWNLOAD.The NEW Biology IMAGE application
This application will grab images froma watford digitiser and perform cell area elongation and dispersion analysis etc. Please feel free to alter it and write a WIMP front-end.
BUT please mail me the changed version.
This app is only tested on an A5000 so far.please be careful. I've just completed the changes to allow this app to run on a strongarm. I'll upload this later.
There is anopther new app !confocal that is a database for storing the settings used in aquireing images on a biorad confocal or othr machine. EG noran. This means that you can reset the confocal exactly as you had it when doing fluorescence detection and relative staining strengths etc etc. It also acts as a database for finding info about images. Get oit here->>>>>>

Rasmol can be found here on the "Acorn Chemistry" site. Thi is a molecle manipulation package that is essential downloading. It allows viewing of data from the sites below.
Matt LB has mailed his software links. I will have a review of them later but the text intro looks encouraging. In addition Matt has VERY generously agreed to develop his apps further.
NIH Image is an application that is globally used in biology and the Pascal source code is available. if anyone want's to help port it join the initiative that Peter Naulls has started.

Useful links
- PDB (The Protein Data
Bank) to retrieve co-ordinates and related information on
macromolecular 3D structures determined by X-ray crystallography or
NMR. Each entry has a unique 4-character code. See and manipulate the
structures in Rasmol or Chime.
- NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information)
to search for matches in protein and nucleic acid sequences.
A source of much sequence-related information.
- LifeScience.Connect PhD places in Molecular Cell Biology collated at UCL (and more).
- The CMS Resource. A fantastic site with many protocols and links. Try here before using the newsgroups below.
- !Citation the RiscOS reference manager. This is 1/10th the price of "Endnote". In addition Endnote is not compatable with the WEB OF SCIENCE which has the new contract for the ISI database. I beleive !Citation is working on this. Why not download an evaluation copy?
- For general Molecular Bioilogy enquiries we suggest you subscribe to the freely available newsgroup bionet.molbio.methds-reagnts and for "Protein Enquiries" bionet.molbio.proteins

I will try to keep this page as simple as possible and not containing frames etc.
Please e-mail links to RiscOS MCB with the subject as:- Application or Resource or Feedback.
Created on a StrongARM Risc PC600/RiscOS 4.02 with !Zap
